Who is eligible for the GM First Responder Discount?

The GM First Responder Discount is available on eligible, new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles to the following: paid or volunteer Firefighters and Police (including Police Officers, Sheriffs and Sheriff's Deputies, Correctional Officers, State Troopers and Federal Law Enforcement Officers), EMTs and Paramedics, 911 Dispatchers and eligible Healthcare Professionals.

What is the vehicle discount?

The GM First Responder Discount Program allows eligible paid or volunteer Firefighters, Police - including Police Officers, Sheriffs and Sheriff's Deputies, Correctional Officers, State Troopers and Federal Law Enforcement Officers - EMTs/Paramedics, 911 Dispatchers and eligible Healthcare Professionals to purchase or lease eligible, new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles at special discount. The discount can also be combined with most current offers for an even better deal.

Which GM vehicles are eligible?

Many new and unused 2021, 2020 and 2019 GM cars; SUVs; crossovers; midsize, light-duty and HD pickup trucks; and passenger and cargo vans are eligible. Vehicle eligibility may change over time, so check before you buy.

Can I share my GM First Responder Discount?

No; however, vehicles can be co-titled.

What is ID.me

ID.me is one of four companies selected by the federal government to provide a Single Sign On for American citizens that will be accepted across all government websites over the next two years. By confirming your documentation through ID.me, your identity will be verified, making you eligible for the GM First Responder Discount.

How do I take advantage of the GM First Responder Discount?

Firefighters, Police and EMTs/Paramedics: Visit ID.me to create an account, or if you already have one, log in with ID.me, and then on the GM First Responder Discount landing page click "Get Authorization Number."

911 Dispatchers and Healthcare Professionals: To use the discount, register or sign in. Once signed in, select "911 Dispatch and Health Care" from the Program menu. Then choose "Get Authorization Number" and follow the prompts. Print out your authorization number and take it, along with proof of eligibility (see below), to a participating GM Dealer to receive your vehicle discount.

What should I bring as proof of eligibility?

Firefighters, Police and EMTs/Paramedics: Once you've logged onto our site through ID.me, your identity will be verified, which means you'll no longer be required to provide proof of eligibility at the dealer. However, you must still take your authorization number - along with a copy of your driver's license with the license number redacted - to your dealer when you're ready to purchase or lease a new vehicle.

911 Dispatchers: Participants must present the following, along with a valid authorization number, to a participating GM dealer in order to purchase or lease under the program:

  1. A valid, current 911 training and education document or a 911 ID card that contains the participant's full name.
  2. A copy of the participant's driver's license with the driver's license number redacted.

Healthcare Professionals: Eligible participants must present the following, along with a valid authorization number, to a participating GM dealer in order to purchase or lease under the program:

  1. A copy of the participant's ID/badge or a copy of a current pay stub (within the last 30 days) with all information redacted except the date of the pay stub, the participant's name and name of the participant's employer.
  2. A copy of the participant's driver's license with the driver's license number redacted.

How many vehicles am I eligible to purchase/lease?

You may purchase/lease up to two (2) eligible, new and unused GM vehicles per year with the GM First Responder Discount.

Can I title a vehicle under my business name?

No. The GM First Responder Discount Program does not allow participants to title a vehicle in the name of their business.

As an eligible participant, can I title a vehicle in the name of a living trust?

Yes, as long as the living trust bears the name of the eligible participant.

How long do I have to keep a vehicle to qualify for the GM First Responder Discount?

Vehicles must be retained for a minimum of six (6) months from the vehicle delivery date.

I recently bought/leased a new GM vehicle. Can I apply the GM First Responder Discount to that purchase?

No. Previous purchases/leases are not eligible.

Does my authorization number expire?

Authorization numbers are valid for 90 days on the purchase or lease of an eligible, new vehicle. You must take delivery of the vehicle prior to the authorization number expiring.

What happens to my authorization number if I don't use it before it expires?

If you don't use your authorization number prior to the expiration date, the authorization will be added back into your account. To purchase or lease, you will have to obtain a new authorization number by following the prompts in the Programs menu.

Can I combine my Earnings with my GM First Responder Discount?

Yes, you can! With the BuyPower Card you can use the Earnings you build on top of your current GM First Responder Discount if eligible. To apply, visit buypowercard.com today.

Can I combine this discount with the GM Mobility Program?

Yes, the GM First Responder Discount can be combined with GM Mobility reimbursement.

Can I combine this discount with Earnings from my GM Rewards Card?

Yes, you can combine the GM First Responder Discount with Earnings from any one of the GM Rewards Cards. Earnings from GM Rewards Cards are in addition to most current incentives GM may offer. Visit buypowercard.com for more information.

Do I have to purchase or lease through GM Financial?

No. You can purchase or lease through any financial institution. However, some APR offers are exclusive to specific financial institutions.

Does the purchase/lease require a down payment?

Your dealership will be able to provide details on the down payment for your chosen vehicle.

Can I receive this discount from any GM Dealer?

This program is available through all participating U.S. GM Dealers and is voluntary on the part of the dealers. Dealer participation is on a vehicle line basis. Please inform your dealer of your intention to use the GM First Responder Discount during your first contact with your dealer. If your dealer elects not to participate, you may visit another GM Dealer.

Can I still use the discount if I order a vehicle rather than choosing one from my dealer's inventory?

Yes, you can receive the discount when you order through a participating GM Dealer.

Are dealer-installed options covered by this discount (e.g., theft-deterrent devices)?

No. Any additional dealer-installed options, conversion/upfit packages, extended warranties and other extra-charge items will be supplied at a price agreed upon by the customer and the dealer.

Are dealer demonstration vehicles included in this program?

Yes, if the vehicle has fewer than 7,500 miles and a dealer demo allowance has not been paid on the vehicle. See your dealer for details.

Can I use a trade-in with this program?

Please contact your participating dealership for more information about trade-ins.

How can I find out more about a specific GM model?

EMTs/EMS/Paramedics/Firefighters/Law Enforcement Officers:  If you've forgotten your user name, please click here for assistance.

911 Dispatchers and Healthcare Professionals:  Click on the "Forgot user name" link in the login box and you will be prompted for your name, address, ZIP Code and phone number. After the system has validated your information, you will be prompted to enter the answer to the secret question you selected when you created an account. After you provide the correct answer, your user name will appear and you will be prompted to enter your password.

I forgot my password. How can I retrieve it?

Firefighters, Police and EMTs/Paramedics:  Click the 'Forgot your password?' link at the bottom of the ID.me Sign In pop-up window and simply follow the prompts.

911 Dispatchers and Healthcare Professionals:  Click on the "Forgot password" link in the login box and you will be prompted for your user name. Once the system has validated a correct user name, you will be prompted to enter the answer to the secret question you selected during registration. After you provide the correct answer, you will be prompted to reset your password.

How do I edit my profile?

Firefighters, Police and EMTs/Paramedics:  Sign in using ID.me and click on My Profile to make edits.

911 Dispatchers and Healthcare Professionals:  To update your information, log in to the site and click the "My Profile" link in the top right corner. Once you have made your updates, click Save. You will then receive an email confirming your changes.

Overview

The General Motors First Responder Discount Program (The Program) provides eligible Participants (The Participant) with the opportunity to purchase/lease eligible, new or unused Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles at The Program price at a participating dealer.

By purchasing or leasing an eligible vehicle through The Program, The Participant acknowledges these Rules and Guidelines and agrees to abide by them.

It is the responsibility of The Participant to know the rules of The Program as set forth in this document. Violations of these rules by The Participant may result in sanctions against The Participant.

The Program may be withdrawn at any time, and its terms are subject to change from time to time by General Motors (GM). Final decisions in all matters relating to the interpretation of any rule or phrase of this activity rest solely with General Motors.

First Responders employed by federal, state or municipal governments may be subject to restrictions that limit their ability to accept this offer. Accordingly, this offer is void unless permitted by applicable federal, state and municipal laws, regulations, rules, ordinances, policies, codes of conduct, and other directives or standards regarding ethics and gift acceptance by the applicable federal, state or municipal employees. By accepting this offer, you verify that doing so complies with all laws, regulations, policies or other restrictions regarding ethics or gift acceptance that apply to you.
